Channel O: The Station That Raised A Generation
If you were a kid in Nigeria with access to DSTV in the early to late 2000s, Channel O must have impacted your music experience in one way or another. At a minimum, it introduced an entire generation to music from across the African continent, at a time when it was impossible to hear records from East and Southern Africa in any other way.
Channel O started in 1997, and while it still exists, it has lost its cultural relevance due to competition from stations like MTV Base Africa and Trace.
